Rajat Manohar Patidar was born on June 1, 1993, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. From an early age, he was drawn to the technical intricacies of batting — hours spent mastering footwork on dusty local pitches laid the foundation for a career that would eventually reach the very top of Indian cricket.

He burst into mainstream consciousness via a fairytale IPL story. Originally released and then going unsold, RCB brought him back as a replacement player — and he repaid the faith by scoring an unforgettable 112* off 54 balls in the 2022 Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens. He became the first uncapped player in IPL history to score a playoff century.

That innings was just the beginning. After earning his international cap — ODI debut vs South Africa in 2023, Test debut vs England in 2024 — Patidar took the RCB captaincy and led them to their first-ever IPL title, ending an 18-year drought with the 2025 championship.

2015

The First-Class Debut

Rajat Patidar made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. Known for his calm demeanor and exceptional ability to pick up length early, he quickly built a reputation as a reliable, technically sound anchor for his state side.

2022

The Eliminator Masterclass

After going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction, Patidar returned as a replacement player for RCB. He etched his name in history at Eden Gardens, smashing 112* off 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants — becoming the first uncapped player ever to score a century in the IPL playoffs. He also played a pivotal role in MP's Ranji Trophy triumph that season.

2023–24

Earning the India Cap

After a dominant 2024 IPL campaign where he smashed 395 runs at a strike rate of 177.13, Patidar's international career accelerated. He made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2023 and his Test debut against England in 2024 at Visakhapatnam — cementing his place at the highest level of the game.

2025

The Championship Captaincy

Retained for ₹11 crore and handed the RCB captaincy ahead of IPL 2025, Patidar transformed the squad into a cohesive, battle-ready unit. He led RCB to their maiden IPL title — defeating Punjab Kings in the final — ending an 18-year championship drought and writing the greatest chapter in the franchise's history.
